Immolation

Written on 09.23.2021

Rivers of fire burn through her heart

Trails of smoldering ash in their wake

An orange and yellow blaze in the dark

Slithering through veins like a red-hot snake

Hissing and flickering its flaming tongue

It coils as it broils her insides

The heat touches her voice, her lungs

Charring flesh until her voice dies

Choking and sputtering

As the flame dances and plays

Smoking and shuddering

As she goes up in a blaze

Becomes but cinder

And ash, and dust

Incinerated what's in her

The death of trust
