Heavy Words
04.15.2021
Words are a funny thing
They can carry with them
The heavy weight of
Much meaning
Or they can be light as air
Holding no meaning
At all
But our ears are poor weights
And our minds
Subjective scales
To determine the weight
And with it
The worth
Of one's words
Is an exercise of pretension
For only the one lifting
The words
And placing them
On another
Truly knows
Whether their words
Mean as much
As the words seem to
You may weigh the words of others
As you see fit
But the truth of that weight
May have little to do with it
Weigh carefully, ears
Lest you one day
Place that weight
On my heart
For feather-light words
May become bricks
When relocated
To unsuspecting chests
